Merry Christmas to you all who are regulars to my blog. I sure hope the holidays are a special time for you and your families. It's the time of year when I especially miss my mates from home in Australia. Good friends.... barbecues on the beach, cups of tea in the garden ... but I also love the snow here in Canada so I'm happy that I have experienced both types of Christmas. Hot and cold. Stay safe and enjoy the good times.
So cold outside ... my old hands went numb just putting bird seed in the feeder and opening and closing the shed door. Oh well.... its winter, it's nearly Christmas and soon santa will be flying over our house on his way from the North Pole. I always write and tell my Aussie friends to make sure they leave a gift in the sleigh for me after he's visited them first.
A lovely image for you here .... I hope I haven't posted it before...
I took a fall this morning on the icy deck ... I couldn't move.... had to try and crawl to the back door so I could thump it with my foot to get hubby to come rescue me. I hate it when I fall on the ice. Inevitably things get bruised and bashed and my hand immediately swelled up and I did something to the vein in my wrist so over to the doctor I went. Now I have it all bandaged up and am typing with one hand. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow when all the aches and pains start happening. I wonder if these fancy ladies back in the days ... did any walking on the ice or even on the snow. Certainly not dressed like this one. :-)
This morning I took four strawberries down to the bird feeder for my little squirrel and of course any of the birds who wanted them. They were so sweet, delicious and bright red. Well the squirrel wasn't having any of the birds take them away. He gathered them up and transported them one by one to his stash two doors away. He jumped from the tree, ran along the neighbours fence and then up into the shed of the next garden. He did the same with peanuts and some bread ... sweet little guy - I actually think it's a girl - So many trips .. so much hard work ... If only she'd show me where the stash is I'd put the food there to begin with ... lol
It's a lot of fun watching the antics of everything in the field and the back yard. Watching the deer is wonderful. They remind me of ballet dancers up on their toes.
oohhh!!!! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....
outside here in the Canadian snow. We are even on the flight path from the North Pole when Santa makes his worldwide run. It snowed all day today ... the little deer were in the field foraging for grass hidden beneath the frozen white stuff .. the chickadees were making quick little darting trips to the bird feeder to pick up the peanuts and the squirrel was trying to scare away the crows that were wanting his peanut butter and sunflower seeds. I think I'm spoiling them all. I sat for a while on the snow in the chair I keep in the shed... it's nice to sit in the sunshine and watch the goings on in the yard. It's better than watching television sometimes. All the creatures seem to have their own agendas on how to get the most food in the quickest time. Bless them all... I sure hope the winter isn't going to be bitter and disastrous for them this year.
I reduced the price of my DVD today ... for about a week... so if you are interested it's cheaper. Filled with 486 digital collage sheets ..... and the shipping is contained in the price. So there is no extra for that.
So many lovely images even if I do say so myself. :-)) Great for all your creations or just to use as they are .
A pretty girl for you ... it's been over a week I think since I wrote on my blog ... can't get over how quickly the days go flying by. I spent 9 of those hours last night in the emergency room because of high blood pressure that seemed to come out of nowhere. I have no clue what caused such a dramatic increase.... I said my prayers and told my Brian where I wanted to be buried. Scarey thing for sure.
Anyway you can use the image above for whatever purpose you like. I think she's gorgeous with her lovely red coat and feathers on her red hat and of course that lovely white scarf. I love wearing scarves and mittens here in Canada. Never had the chance much back home in Australia. I even have a red coat too and a big white gorgeous scarf I knitted and added sparkling beads to. Only thing I don't have are my wonderful Aussie roses ... I miss them so much.
Please be careful with jerky treats you give your dog. Hundreds if not thousands of them have died because these horrible things come from China and will kill your beloved pet. Even the "beggin strips" are tainted with colouring and other bad things ... before I found out about them I wondered why my gorgeous Aussie brown and white dog (Wilbur) had suddenly grown a big brown caramel coloured strip across his back. Whatever was in them was changing the colour of his fur and probably of his skin. Same with my Dozer dog .. beautiful big white fluffy Husky wolf fellow who suddenly started changing colour as well. It wasn't till after we stopped giving him treats that his coat returned to the soft white it originally was. Please take care in what you feed your pets. DO NOT give them any treats from China. I'm not sure about the other countries where they make them but CHINA will kill them. I want to see a total ban on these things. Tell your friends and family to be especially careful.
I remember when my Old English Sheepdog used to come home looking like this. Bless him ... it was quite a task to get him clean after we'd been playing with the football down on the oval near my home. He'd inevitably find the puddles with the mud in them. This little guy sure is cute.
Have you ever gone to the bottom of my blog first page and seen the earth revolving with all the lights on it. Every red light is the location of someone's visit to my blog. You can click and move the earth to any rotation ... so its really interesting to find even yourself perhaps there. If you are on the blog your light will be blinking. It's quite amazing when you think about it. I'm happy that so many visitors enjoying coming to the blog ... send me some feedback ...I'd love to hear from you.
Don't forget to go to my Etsy shoppe and check out the coupon codes... you'll save some money with those. My favourite new thing at the Shoppe are the Gift Envelopes you print and glue and attach to your Christmas tree with pretty red bows. You could put a small gift inside or some cash.... and speaking of small gifts I'm sitting at my desk looking at a tiny little lipstick pink geek stick which holds 16 gigabyes. Just right for moving things around or taking the sheets over to the print shop .... its so neat. I wish they had these things when I was going to school.... I wish they had computers when I was going to school... heck ... it seems like we were all back in the stone age compared to what they have now.
Wow... weather has turned crappy... seems to want to rain every day. I haven't seen my little squirrel for some time so I think she's busy making ready for winter. I hope she's not been hurt or caught by cats or other predators. Our lawn is looking bare now with no garden furniture or potted plants etc and soon we'll have to wrap our little trees in hessian so the deer won't eat them. They walk passed our place all the time and I think they look at the trees as some sort of chocolate box filled with something delicious. Lots of places around town have the same trees and if you see them in the winter they have turned into topiary trees .. with just the leaves at the top and a long, tall trunk.
I've been enjoying listening to my audio books ... "The Cat who ... " blew the whistle, went underground, who brought down the house, talked turkey, had 60 whiskers, and on it goes .... love the series by Lilian Jackson Braun about a 50 something retired journalist who lives in the woods and solves mysteries with help from his beloved Siamese cats who seem to have a weird sense when something is wrong. Nothing nicer than snuggling up in bed with snow coming down (which it will be soon) and having someone read to you. I love my little tablet ... its wonderful. And I'm stacked up with audio books like the squirrels must be for the long winter coming.
I've also added new coupon codes for my Etsy Shoppe... so check those out if you are interested. Great bargains there and some pretty new things for Christmas. I love these old advertisements as well....
Gosh I forget to come to my blog and make an entry... the days go by so quickly ... We are packing away our summer garden furniture this afternoon, moving tables and chairs and my lovely swing I like to sit on and watch the birds. Putting the lawn mower away and our bikes, also my flower pots and other things for the garden and getting ready for the snow shovels and all that comes with winter. Weather certainly is getting cooler and so dark so much earlier.
A neat little video I found this morning on my Aussie newspaper's pages.
Gorgeous little bundles.. I sure do love them...check them out .. they will make you smile I'm sure.
I've gone all shabby chic at my Etsy shoppe.... :-)
I've loved it ever since I can remember and my home back in Australia was mostly white and filled with all things shabby chic. I even made a quilt by hand ... big gorgeous one... in the tones of the image above... soft greens, pinks, cream, beige and a darker green. I should take a photo of it and post it here. I brought it with me from Tasmania when I came to live in Canada. Took me ages to do with all the fine stitching to make the quilted swirls around the edges and also joining up the pieces. I can never remember having any pink clothes growing up ... perhaps my mum didn't like it... she never bought me anything in pink... so I'm addicted to it now. Nothing nicer than pink and cream and a soft green.
A pretty lady with a gorgeous pink bow.... roses of course, some lace and a big floppy hat.
I love all those elements and have been busy revamping my Etsy shoppe. There are lots and lots of new things to see ... and special bargains by using coupon codes mentioned at the top of my Home page there.
Bookmark the shoppe in case you want to visit when you have lots of time to sit and enjoy the pretties and I'm sure there'll be something there you like.
Pretty girl for you today. Image has been colourized of course... not by me but I do enjoy doing that ... my little program is fun to use. I've also purchased an external hard drive ... 2 terrabytes... wow... I'm set now to save and create till my hearts content. I've been busy backing up all my goodies from the computer ... whilst the rain continues to fall each day. It seems like summer has already gone and the leaves are even beginning to turn yellow ready for Fall. And of course Halloween stuff is already in the stores. wow... where has the year gone to.
I should never start to alter my website page or my blog page. I always think it will be super easy and super quick ... then of course, like all things you think are going to be as they always are... something inevitably goes wrong and you are fiddling around for hours. Weird things happened this morning with my whimsydust.com webpage... urgh! Finally I got it figured out with all pretty roses in lovely shades I adore. Pop over and have a peak ....
I somehow now have to use Google Chrome. Suddenly my internet explorer didn't want to work .. wouldn't allow me to insert images or do my usual things.... Keeping my fingers crossed that I can still submit stuff to my blog here.... The trials and tribulations of the internet ... makes you sometimes want to scream.
Oh dear its been so hot .... I'm wanting snow back again. I've had enough heat living in Australia and this summer here in the woods has been brutal. I feel sorry for the bears with their huge big thick coats and all the bugs around ... I bet most of them spend a lot of time in the rivers and lakes and streams trying to keep cool. There are so many millions of gorgeous green trees around that the daylight doesn't even appear at the bottom and its so black and dark and cool I guess they also spend time there.
The lawn seems to still want to grow ... so I have to choose my mowing time carefully so I'm not out in the sun. Can't do that anymore....
An image for you to save if you wish... click on it to see it larger...
A pretty pink-red heart for you with vintage roses. I'm not sure how big it comes out when you click on it .. but if you needed to increase the size for printing purposes by all means do so. These look great with a piece of lace tied through the hole, or a pink ribbon or some raffia. Great for using on gifts. I've got some at my Etsy Shoppe for sale .. I love them ... surrounded by pearls.
I think you can access the boards from the link above. It's a neat place ..millions of gorgeous images .. of things people like.
I've also been waiting for my little squirrels to come back for food. They disappeared for about a week and I was afraid that the cats in the neighbourhood might have got them but their little voices were loud this morning ... wanting food ... They are very funny and I think they are missing my old Dozer dog who used to annoy them and bark.
I've been busy making some pretty tags for my Etsy Shoppe. Print them out on some card stock quality paper, add a piece of lace for a tie .. or some pink ribbon or raffia ... and you have a very gorgeous tag to attach to gifts for your family and friends. A preview pic below... the ones you purchase don't have my logo or lace on them. And at present there is 20% off anything you buy from my store.... use the coupon code. You can see them here at my Store....
I've been busy today making little birdhouses for my Etsy Shoppe. I think they are so cute and sweet ... I love having lots of tags and cards on hand. You might like them too.... here is the link for you .... if you wish to go peek....
Gosh summer is going by so quickly. I have been enjoying watching the birds and feeding the squirrels ... we even had a visit from some deer and a fox ... and of course I can sit under the shady tree and talk to my dear sweet Dozer in heaven. I am missing him so much.
I have been enjoying watching the Tour de France cycling race ... it finished today with British man Chris Froome winning. Such a beautiful city of Paris in the evening as the race came into finish. The Eiffel tower was exquisite with sparkling lights all over.... absolutely gorgeous. I'd sure love to visit Paris before I die.... Well done Chris ..
Of course the lady above is none other than Marie Antoinette ...
Another week gone by so quickly.... seven days since my last post although I do go to my blog every day and click on the animal rescue site so I can help feed and provide shelter to the sweethearts who need it. It's really important... it doesn't cost you anything so please do that also for me and for them.
We've had so much rain over the past week I think we'll be needing floaties or a boat soon. My old Dozer dog gets very wet each time he goes outside so the inside of our house is smelling like wet dog. Hubby hates the smell but I kind of like it and it reminds me of being back in Australia when the sheep would get the same smell of a newly washed very woolly sweater.
I've been busy revamping my Etsy shoppe to include instant downloads for all purchases which should please so many of my customers. There's nothing like getting instant gratification and having the images you buy right onto your computer as soon as you click the button to buy. It's great ... plus the prices have been reduced and there's also a 20% discount if you use the coupon code mentioned in the right hand column of the blog here. I'm thinking too of getting a newsletter up and running.... which would be sort of like a miniature blog sent out once a week or so.
A pretty image for you today.... it was designed as a blog topper so if you need one of those grab it ....... :-)) ........ but of course you could add some words and make it into a greeting card or use if for anything you like.
Lots of lovely lilac bushes around our little town. Even my very small garden is exploding with white and purple lilacs. And the grass is growing whilst you watch it. So quickly I mow the lawn and it needs to be done again in only 3 days time.
Two cards for you today to add to your collection.
I hope all the mums and grand mums had a happy mothers day this past weekend. I don't have any children but I do have fur babies ... always have had wonderful dogs through the years. My dear old Dozer now relies on me to lift him up off the floor because his back end is failing him. Once he's up ... he's off chasing the cat or barking at the deer or the birds down in the yard. He's a happy big guy ... we had a good mothers day together.
Isn't this a gorgeous photo frame. I found it somewhere surfing around the internet .. it looks like its hanging from a Christmas tree. Beautiful....
I've been busy today adding my bear affair paintshop pro tubes to my Etsy shoppe so I hope you go visit ... here is a little preview of just some of the 116 files ready for you to use in your own creations. I have had a lot of fun creating these over the years and the real bears of British Columbia were my inspiration.
You can click on the image to take you to Etsy ... there are other previews there as well and more details of course.
It was a snowy day today.. very weird here in the woods when snow came storming down and swirling around for about an hour and piling up on the lawn and trees, fences and everything in its path. It stayed overnight and then melted in the morning thank goodness. I bet the real bears were wondering if they should go back into hibernation.
