Darn hair colour. I hate it when they don't come out like the colour on the box.  I jumped back into the shower this morning and did a few more washes of it so it would lighten a bit but it's disappointing when you at last find a colour and product you like... only to have the only place in town... (the drug store) ... close up shop and you are left with nowhere else to get one.  I think on my next big long trip to the next town north of us I'll have to get a few of them.

Then there's the hurricane coming into the gulf ... where the oil spill is... so I'm keeping those people in my prayers. Gosh will it never end for them down there.  The wildlife will suffer even more when the oil gets pushed further up onto beaches and wetlands.  And it seems at long last Obama has accepted help from other nations.  77 days later... he could have done that in the first week and they could be collecting oil all that time.

Big sneaky happenings with Obama (again)... the stuff that goes on is amazing.  It seems when someone or something isn't to their liking ... (even though it was before).. they just deny it or get rid of it.
Oh well... its all politics.    The whole world seems to revolve around political agendas.     I don't feel well today so I didn't go bike riding and might just settle back and take a rest.  I'm baking a cake for a belated Father's Day celebration for my dear Brian.  Grandchildren are coming so I've done the table in all pink summery stripes with pink plastic plates.. they will love it ...  and the chocolate cake will be decorated with smarties so I'm wondering if it is indeed a Dad's day celebration or a kid's day...  :-)

Little grandson is here today to stay awhile with us.  He'll like it when "grandma" shows him a bug bite I have on my leg.  Darn mosquitos ... He's all into "Ow-ees"... he falls over and scrapes his knee and he's got an Oweeeeeee ... grandma gets bitten by a couple of bugs now she's got Oweeees ... *(s)...  and he can help me feed the birds again this morning. He loves having to climb up the little white step ladder to reach the containers.  Rain has stopped .. nice to have it overnight to water the garden and keep things pretty and green and fresh.

Sun is out .. it's a nice day in the woods of British Columbia and I can only imagine the amount of bears out with the new cubs this season ... and I often wonder where my little deer hang out when the pickings are good for meals.  They'll of course be back when the snow comes again but I sure would like to see them on the green grass for a change.   And I sure would love it if the bears had letter boxes .. those types that have a little flag thingy on top ... so I could see them all throughout the woods.  They could be so close and I wouldn't even know it.

I've just added the "Give Away of the Day" site to my side border. Be sure to check it out each day because they have great stuff for us to use on our computers. I've downloaded many programs ... to clean up, speed up, spruce up, copy, reorganise, all sorts of interesting programs but they only give them away on certain days and only for 24 hrs.  So if there is something you like get it immediately. It won't be there tomorrow. You can see the link about half way down my page here.... right hand side..
An early morning bike ride .... beautiful sunshine, cool breezes, chirping birds and gorgeous green vegetation everywhere. What a difference from the stark, white winters.  My flowers are beginning to bloom ... petunias, lobelias and a pretty orange daisy.  I'm going to take my camera with me this morning so I can snap some photos over in the park ...  Better get going.  :-))  Have a great day everyone.

I have always loved the beavers that cut down the trees and make dams in the woods.  Now I know I love them even more after watching a wonderful documentary about them on one of our nature channels here in Canada.  I learned that two beavers can cut down 400 trees in a year .... they also sound like little  babies... its the cutest sweet little noise and I would never have guessed it came from a beaver.  Their dams need to be high enough so that in winter when the ice comes it does not freeze to the bottom .. they swim under the ice and up into their "lodges" which can be as big as a two car garage.  There are escape routes and separate chambers inside. The film showed us a bear .. chasing one little dude through the forest into the water ... the beaver luckily escaped and the bear was not about to give up.  He climbed up on their enormous lodge and started wrecking it to get to them... but they were long gone. He hadn't a clue.  :-))   One bear climbed up a tree and it wasn't long before the beaver had knawed through it and it crashed into the water.  Bear was fine .. had to swim out ......  they are so very, very busy and their instinct is to start building when they hear running water.  I love them ......   and they are the only things on the planet apart from man who can create whole eco systems from the damming of the water.  Numerous other types of life begin in their dams and when they chop down the trees they eat the bark but not the leaves which are then available to the moose and others to eat ...  (when once they were too high for them to reach...)  They never stop working.  And are so clever.

A desktop from my "Bear Affair" collection.  I love making these little dudes ... usually beginning with their faces so they can watch me create their bodies.
They always seem to take on a personality ...
The desktop is 1250 x 800 so you can click on the image and see it full size and either set as your background on your computer or save to your files.
I've left lots of room for all your desktop icons.  And don't they accumulate quickly.  :-)

Aren't these two a couple of cuties... At first I thought the red faced one had paint all over him ..
click to see the photo full size.. He's stunning ...
I think he's the only cat I've seen with a coloured face like that. And there's a tiny bit of red on his back foot as well.   He's gorgeous.
So many weird and interesting things in the news lately. One year anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson today... hasn't that come around quickly. Then the illegal immigration debacle down in Arizona .. I can't even understand how the rest of the USA can be against one of its own States just because they want to stop illegals from crossing over. It's getting really bad down there. Now California wants to boycott its neighbouring state. Why!!!! People are getting killed .. the police have been told to carry their guns now at all times even when not on duty because of death threats.

Kevin Costner still doesn't seem to have the attention of whoever is now in control of the gulf oil spill.... he's going to be on Huckebee show this weekend .. let's hope someone listens to him. Nobody else seems to be doing hardly a thing to clean up the oil. And every time I see news footage of whats "being cleaned up" .. it always seems to be a lot of people walking along a beach picking up tiny specs of oil and putting them into tiny little bags. Why don't we see the horrible length and depth of these spills ...they are feet deep and much worse than what is being shown on telly.

Then there's the school that wants to give condoms to 7 year olds ..... can you imagine even explaining to these little guys what they are for. Another worry .... At least 11 of the 17 members of the Afghan military who went AWOL from an Air Force base in Texas and are considered deserters by their nation have turned up in the exact place you'd expect to find them in the year 2010. They're on Facebook. They were learning how to speak English and fly planes (!!!!!!!!!!!!) one has to wonder why the USA would even be doing this .... they went missing with top security access to military places .... (who let the dogs out) as they say. Good heavens what a mess that is. Sounds so ridiculous after the events of 9.11

And Australia has its first woman prime minister. Good for her .....

I'm up bright and early this morning to head off to the big, huge yard sale the town has.  It's in a field about two miles away from where I live and I've got my umbrella because it looks like rain coming, I'll take my water to drink, and my nice new big "beach bag" sort of thingy to pile in the stuff  I purchase.  They have some great things. One year I got a bike to ride ... for just $20.  Another year I got some gorgeous crystal glasses and a whole stack of brand new christmas goodies from the stores.  They have furniture, books, clothes, new and old, kids stuff, lots of great crockery and materials,  baskets, and anything else you can think of.  So I'm ready to roll ...   *(s) .............  And it goes for 4 days .......  they keep putting out more stuff all the time. I might have to sleep up there.  LOL...

I also had to show you this gorgeous photo of a beautiful wolf.  We have them all around us and I often hear them howling.  He's sleeping on a rock in the snow in the sunshine. One can only image the delight for the photographer to find him lying there.  That's what I need. A super duper camera with telescopic lens so I can take photos like this one.  He also looks like the big dog a couple of doors from me .. he's so big and his coat is so thick from living in the cold.  Just gorgeous !!!

Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander and strategist for the Afghan war, arrived at the Pentagon this morning for the first in a series of top-level meetings where he's expected to learn whether to pocket or tender his resignation letter.

Somehow I think he'll be the "dog's dinner" if the powers that be have their way.

Poor guy... summoned to the White House like a schoolboy summoned to the principal's office.  His life is on the line 24 hours a day along with the hundreds of thousands of troops he commands.  Who really cares what he said or was supposed to have said to journalists (and why are they embedded with troops anyway) ... surely they were given White House permission .... He supposedly doesn't agree with some Senators or the President's take on the war.  I wonder how they would know anything about it anyway ... he's the one in Afghanistan day in day out watching his men being blown to pieces.
I just don't get it.....
give the guy a break.  Stanley McChrystal deserves some say in whats going on over there.  It's all so political ... just get over it White House and concentrate on other matters you need to fix. And do we really need to see Obama yet again on the telly giving us his decision on this man's life.

Let's hope Kevin Costner's idea can help with the oil spill. Nobody else seems to be doing a darn thing.
They all seem too busy going to yacht races, baseball games, playing golf,  and putting their faces on the televison trying to gain political points in all directions.  How about shutting up and doing something.
At least Kevin has put his money where his mouth is and investing 26 million dollars of his own money.  It seems like such a wonderful idea.   Let's hope BP  and the US Government use it and get this mess cleaned up. God it's awful.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Tony Hayward .. CEO of British Pretroleum flew home to England to attend a yacht race.  His 52 ft yacht was competing.  He rubbed shoulders with other millionaires and whilst he enjoyed his time away from the gulf oil spill the residents of the Gulf coast are outraged because they cannot take a day off, cannot go out in their boats, they are still trying to clean up the mess.   Gosh I just don't know what is going on in the world.  Do these people like Mr. Hayward really understand the plight of residents, fisherman, wildlife etc.  Even Obama went to a baseball game.  It's like nothing bad is happening.  People are losing their livelihood.
Ronnie Kennier, a 49-year-old oysterman from Empire, La., said Hayward's day among the sailboats showed once again just how out of touch BP executives are with the financial and emotional suffering along the Gulf.

Did you know that the oil spill in the Gulf happening
now has enough oil under the earth's surface to continue gushing for
 4 YEARS.
If their efforts to stop it fail it could go on polluting
the earth for that amount of time. God help us all.
You can click on the cute old cat and see the image much larger...

save it to your stash of goodies from Jana's Journal  :-)
to send to your families and friends...
He looks so important sitting there next to his favourite chair.  I think that good looking chair could easily become a favourite of mine as well.  I love big squishy comfy chairs to sit in and read my mysteries.

For some unknown reason I've been reading romance paperbacks lately.  I got a big box of them from the yard sale over the road and I've gone through three already.  Lisa Cooke was one of the authors. She's very good and funny.   And I've just discovered Janet Evanovich ... she's hilarious ... I love her writing.  Stories are good and you can read them ever so quickly.   I'm looking forward next week to going to the huge yard sale they have in the field that goes for 4 days.

Father's Day on the weekend.  I just came across an email from Hallmark .. *the card people ... and thought it would be a good idea to use their e-card option.  Clicked on it and they wanted 99 cents for the card.  It's not the money but hey .. its a darn e-card for heavens sake.  And who would want to use a credit card for a 99 cent purchase.  Even Paypal take their percentage or charge you for it ... and what a hassle.

I'll make a card up myelf for my Brian or get one from the store...  and I'll say a little prayer for my own dear sweet dad who passed away two years after I arrived here in Canada from Australia.   I sure do miss him.   Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there......

Appalling mess in the Gulf.  Oil still gushing at horrendous amounts. Obama has done too little too late.  I cannot believe it took him 6 weeks or more before he actually got on the phone to talk to BP officials to see what they were doing about containment.   Wildlife is dying and suffering. I hope they soon get something happening where they can euthanise these poor creatures quickly.  They die from the stress of cleaning and confinement. God Bless them... help them not to suffer.   I'm heartbroken for everything and everyone concerned.

One thing that struck me as very ironic yesterday was the fact that Obama continually during his election campaign and afterwards said horrible words about Sarah Palin having no experience ... yet she.. of all the USA Governors is the only one who has dealt with an oil spill in Alaska when she was Governor.  She knows the oil companies.. she knows what they do and say .  Obama himself however was just a community organiser .. he has no experience whatsoever in running anything.  Yet here he is now running the country with his side kicks ... who are like little clones of himself ........  they know nothing either.  Even the Brits are sick of him now.  He didn't even know that the DVD's he gave the Prime Minister wouldn't work in England.
A very unthoughtful and poorly planned gift.   All  I want is for him to get his act together and start doing what a President does... The press is having a field day with all of this.  He's probably the least experienced President in the history of the USA and isn't it weird that you obviously don't need any qualifications to be President other than having plenty of money to get you elected.    Urgh!!!!!!!!!!

Our bike ride this morning took us over to the second hand and new car dealership in town.  We started off in the sunshine and by the time we got there we were being drenched by rain and hail.   What silly weather it is.....  We wanted to look at the cars and trucks for sale ... the guy came out and took one look at us and laughed and said you two definitely need a vehicle.   We were a bit bedraggled from the rain and must have looked quite amusing on our bikes.  The green grass is growing so fast ... it needs cutting every second day and my lilacs are smelling gorgeous.  The forget-me-nots are out and there are some pretty purple irises opening up.  It's so nice to see flowers after the long white winter months when everything is frozen solid ..... Big, fat bumblebees, butterflies and the hummingbirds zooming past me .....  and as we ride past all the lilac bushes that people seem to have in their yards the perfume from them is so strong and gorgeous.  I saw a white lilac today .. my first one here in town. The others seem to be only purple.  They remind me of my grandmother who always wore lilac perfume.
A cute desktop wallpaper for you ...
its 1250 x 800 so will look good on your large computer screen.

Please.. if you care for the animals .. click on the link down the right hand column of my page.... or here to take you to the animal rescue site where every click you  make ... advertisers donate half a bowl of food for all animals everywhere in shelters and rescue centres.  Horses, cats, dogs, wildlife like the otters, wolves etc.  It's a wonderful page and they have lots of nice things for sale ... I'm tempted to get myself a pretty bracelet or even a shopping bag.   I'm not all that brave to read the sad plight of so many beloved creatures.  Some days when I'm weepy and sad I just go there and click a dozen or so times and remove myself from the page quickly. I simply cannot bear their suffering.   SO PLEASE ... take the time to click each day. It only takes a few seconds out of your internet daily life.... I do it after I've read the news online ...  it's a habit for me now and I love that I can at least help them in some small way.  It costs  you nothing.      They seem to need us now more than ever........

Little grandson Connor has been with us for some time yesterday and him and his sister are here with us again today.  I think I'm all cartooned out... !!!  I know everything about Scooby Doo, Blue's Clues, Diego and Dora the Explorer, and a whole bunch of other characters.   We went to a little yard sale just over the road this morning and I got a box full of books, some lace and craft goodies, we've had pizza for lunch and played with the bunny from next door.  He loves to help me fill up the bird feeders so we did that as well...  climbing up the little step ladder was the highlight of that adventure.
All will be moving soon.... 8 hours away from us so we're sure to miss them.   It will be pretty lonely up here in the woods now for the old grandma and grandpa.

The Jones Act..... have you heard about that .....
Its from 1920,and  is a stumbling block to the clean-up efforts. Over a dozen nations have offered assistance, as they have equipment and experience in cleaning oil spills. However, the Jones Act prohibits foreign operations in the Gulf of Mexico. Known as Section 27 of the Maritime Act of 1920, the Jones Act deals with ‘cabotage’, or coastal shipping. The act is meant to protect the U.S. maritime industry such that only U.S. flagged vessels, crewed by at least 75% U.S. citizens, conducting commercial operations in U.S. waters. In 2005, the Bush administration waived the Jones Act in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

During a press conference yesterday, Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen was asked about this foreign assistance and the Jones Act. He said a waiver would be granted if a request were made. This morning, EPA head Carol Browner was asked on “Fox and Friends” if the White House would request a waiver? Her answer was that the request had to come from the Coast Guard. So it seems that despite being lawyer-heavy, the Obama administration, is not very sharp or aware of what it can do legally.

Countries are sitting.. with ships and equipment to help with the oil spill... and no-one ... has "requested" an amendment to the Jones Act so they can come into the USA waters and do what needs to be done.   THIS IS APPALLING.  It can be waived like Bush did in Hurricane Katrina...  so why hasn't someone from the White House been onto this and got it done. As the days go by ..... what the heck is going on with the politicians. I hate them all....

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Three bike rides today...  its been a gorgeous day up here in the woods. The grass seems to be so green it almost looks artificial.  Lots of those fluffy cottonwood things floating through the air.  It's all quite lovely ....  I needed to get away from watching the news on the telly.   I get madder by the day at the incompetence of people involved in governments... and big companies.  When I got back from my evening bike ride I did however watch a really good show called Islands of Britain starring Martin Clunes. I like him... he's Doc Martin.   And writing about Britain it seems the old Brits are not happy with Obama for the way he's handling the oil spill either. It seems BP (as a major British company) has many share holders and its stock has plummeted so low that now many retirees and elderly investors are losing retirement investments etc because of the disaster in the gulf.  It all seems to reverberate in so many ways ....... It affects so many........
This perfect little guy is called Midnight and he lives in New Zealand.  Doesn't he look regal and important.  He was given a wonderful home by my friend and her husband and he sure must be thinking himself pretty lucky to have found them.   I imagine all the hardships and unhappiness he experienced before he joined them he's forgotten about now.  He's in the lap of luxury.  I think they should call him Sir Midnight ... *(s) ... he looks like he's the king of the castle.   (Thank you Lorilei for the lovely frame, flowers and little bird.)
Another day of the oil spill... day 52 I think it is now.  Why aren't they doing more about this.  BP are now buying names or words or whatever you do from Google and other search engines so that when someone goes to look for information about their neglect regarding the oil spill ... it directs you to their promotional BP homepage.  So you don't get to read the truth about what's going on.  Shrimpers, oystermen, seafood businesses, out-of-work drilling crews and the tourism industry who have filed damage claims with BP also are angrily complaining of delays, excessive paperwork and skimpy payments that have put them on the verge of going under as the financial and environmental toll of the seven-week-old disaster grows.  BP is not helping these people whose restaurants are closing, business going down the gurglar.     Obama still has not had a face to face meeting with the CEO of BP ...  Why not!!!!  He had a "beer summit" on the Whitehouse lawn when a policeman arrested a professor friend of his.  Isn't this more important than that.?  He's let the country down immensely on this.  More than 3 weeks passed before he even made a move regarding the oil spill. They knew what was coming.  Did nothing.  Still doing nothing..... and BP seems to be ruling the USA at this time telling them who can do what, when and where.  They can't even talk to the press.  Now talk of BP maybe even going bankrupt.  Then who continues with the clean up and trying to plug the hole.... urgh!!! It's a comedy of errors !

I think the world has gone crazy.  Our Canadian government is in deep doo doo for proposing a $2 million "fake lake" to impress or entertain or whatever for I haven't a clue .... when they attend  the G20 summits in Ottawa.   While policing costs for the G8 and G20 summits will cost $1 billion, Canadians are on the hook for a host of other related costs, everything from electronic jamming to safeguarding what the leaders eat for dinner.  I get so mad with governments.  Whose money is it they keep spending.  Ours .........   I hate them ..... I wish I could walk away and not hear this stupidity or read about it.  So many people suffer in all sorts of ways when Governments cut expenditure on elderly, or child care or schools, or services people need yet they keep splurging on ridiculous costs.   They need to have a few more women in charge of governments I think.  We at least know how to run on a budget ....
He's at it again.....
Obama on the campaign trail. Doesn't he know he's won.  Why does he continue to do these town hall meetings and ego fests when so many people don't like his policies. He's trying now to convince people that the Health Care bill is magnificent. It's been passed .... so get on with something else that needs his attention.  He hasn't even spoken to the CEO of British Petroleum. They have never talked to each other for goodness sake.   Why doesn't he just go back to the gulf and do something productive to help with what's happening there with the oil spill.   Latest news is that there is now another leak from another platform 100 miles away.   Nobody will tell what's its about.... coast guard, government departments, people who own the platform etc won't say a word and its been happening for a month or more already.  Cover up !!  There are now thousands and thousands of oil "patches" throughout the ocean.

The oil industry should be ashamed of itself ........  it's all about the money.  As they moved into deeper water and deeper wells they got complacent regarding rules and regulations. Over time the industry has dictated how the rules were enforced. They all keep lying... misrepresenting the facts .... and its not only the oil industry.  Where's the so called "transparency" Obama shouted about during his election campaign.   Urgh!!!  This environmental disaster is the largest in the history of the United States.  The clean up crew in the gulf on one or how ever many beaches .....  have two hour lunches and work only 15 minutes and then have 15 minutes off.   And on the news we see them picking up tiny bits of oil that you need a magnifying glass to find. Why aren't they in the marshes where its piling up a foot deep.  The clean up effort by BP is absolutely pathetic and I'm ready to scream about it.   It's so upsetting.
One nice thing this morning on the news... two beautiful pelicans which have been cleaned and helped from dying in the oil spill ... were released from their cramped quarters of a carrier box ..... into the ocean once again.   They were so gorgeous... majestic and  big.  It brought some joy to my old heart to see them fly up into the air across the beach and land a little way out on the water again.  The rescued birds have all been taken somewhere else to be released so God willing they will be able to survive.  The pelicans have just been taken off the endangered species list .. then the oils spill happened and so many of them are in peril.
BP it seems is stopping fisherman from even going out into the water. They pay them to sit and do nothing but watch.  The BP people cleaning up the beaches are taking two hour lunch breaks and hardly moving in their efforts to clean.  I don't understand what jurisdiction this company has over the US government and its people. Why are they running the show.  Why are they stopping other people from helping.  I sure wish I had enough money to fly down there and do something.

A visitor to our bird feeder yesterday. Perhaps I should start referring to our feeders as squirrel feeders.  This little girl I'm sure let me get up real close to her. She was too busy with the sunflower seeds and crunchy peanut butter I'd put there for her.   She's got an awfully big fat tummy so I'm thinking she's probably filled up with baby squirrels waiting to be born.
I love seeing her.

Sir Paul McCartney.  They should remove the "sir" in front of his name for his classless comment about an American President. Whomever is President  is none of his business and to come to the USA to accept an honour at the White House and denigrate President Bush (or any President) is an outrage.  It showed how shallow people can be, and it was sad that someone of Paul McCartney's stature can in one moment erase years of goodwill that he built up with so many people in America.  It was completely ungracious and undignified.  I would imagine that most of his wealth was accumulated from people of the USA buying his music.  Perhaps he should get a shovel and go to the gulf to help clean up the other foul mess that Britian left on the shores of the USA. I love Britain as I do the USA ... but with McCartney and the BP CEO I've just about had enough of them lately.

I was going to add a photo of a precious beautiful pelican .... stuck and dying in the oil spill.....  just seen it on the news and I couldn't bear to see it on the blog so I simply can only write words about it and not include any images.  I couldn't stop crying.  I have cried for hours over this monstrous disaster.  The gorgeous bird was no longer able to move anything but its eyes.  It was "glued" into place like a cement statue ... unable to lift its wings or move an inch. It has no hope of survival.  The news people are saying that all these deaths have been hidden from us and I don't doubt it one bit because we have not seen it on the news at all.  Dolphin bodies washed up ... the oil is consuming everything in its path.   One expert said it will take 50 years to get back to normal.  Lord help everything in its path ...  and I pray for the suffering to stop.  Let them die quickly ..... its nothing short of torture. ~~~~~~~~~~~   I love them all so much and if there is indeed a God I sure hope he's on duty and will end the pain and destruction soon.  We are not even seeing the 100 or more mile long glob that is floating beneath the surface .......

Rest in Peace Rue McClanahan.   You were a wonderful "Golden Girl"... made me laugh, watching the show each day was like having girlfriends come to visit.  Betty White now is the only GG left.   I loved that show and I guess it will continue on the TV land channel or another retro channel for us all to enjoy for eternity.  God Bless You ..... pretty lady.

Another failure with the oil spill.  Will it ever end.  Latest effort to saw through some part of whatever it is down there that has gone wrong ... failed... the saw got stuck.   As the hurricane season approaches one can only imagine the devastation if the oil and water gets tangled up in winds that will twist and turn it in all directions.  As they said on the news this morning the sticky mess will land on animals, people, buildings, cars, whatever is in its path if a hurricane happens and they usually do.    I can't bear to look at the news anymore. I've cried so much about what is happening as the world's largest oil spill disaster doesn't look like it will ever end.  Why are these companies ever allowed to create these oil rigs and pipelines with no back up plan if something goes wrong.  The pipe is two feet wide ... surely they could put stop lids or whatever throughout the system in case of failure.  Much like they do in submarines when one compartment gets filled they shut the doors.  BP made 218 billion dollars last year.  What cost to them ... would compartments be. I'm so saddened for the wildlife. They are dying every single day from this man made monstrosity.

Now that summer is nearly here.. I always seem to find my way  to the pretty picnic things in the stores. Plastic glasses and plates and bowls in all soft and vibrant party colours so I bought some glasses (for my smoothies) .. big ones which look like those in old fashioned milk shake parlours,  and some plates for just taking out onto the deck with a sandwich on.  Well for the life of me I could not get those horrible store stickers off them.  You can't scrub at the glue because it marks the plastic and looks horrible.... so much so ... that my hubby went over to the store and bought me 4 more plates because he had ruined the ones he'd been washing for me .... trying to get the stickers off.

Well after a search on internet I found the much sought after solution. Why hadn't I known this years ago.  All you do is add a little cooking oil to the sticker ... let it stand for a while ... I guess the oil sinks in and then with some warm soapy water everything comes away and you have no residue gluey mark left on the item.  I love it.  So there you are.... a great tip..... try it out next time you get something with a horrible store sticker on it.
The daylight comes so early now. I've been awake since 3.30 a.m. so I am up and  fiddling on the computer... did the dishes, watched a show I'd taped called Lark Rise to Candleford.   A cute period drama set in England ... both places are the names of towns and its all about the inhabitants of each village.   Now its still only 6.30 a.m. so I'll go back to bed for a couple of hours then go on my bike ride later.  Oh I also read my latest novel from the library. Finished that off.  Don't often borrow romances but it was a nice one set in the middle 1800's.  She got the guy she loved .... both overcome the obligatory obstacles to find true love ... lived happily ever after with a new little baby appearing on the last page of the book... *(s).....

I hate it when I wake up early because I know I'll be napping this afternoon.   Much like an old Canadian bear or a new mother bear who gets up early with her cubs and goes looking for those millions of dandelions that seem to be flourishing around the grasses and lawns.  They sure do love those.   They too sleep during the afternoon, napping in the warmth of the beautiful sunshine... probably the little guys will be off chasing butterflies or something whilst mum does most of the napping.   I hope I see some this summer.  I sure do love them.
